Hermosa Beach is a very special beach community located in the heart of the South Bay of Los Angeles County. Originally developed as a small summer beach town, Hermosa Beach was officially incorporated January 14, 1907. Beginning as a small town of beach cottages scattered along the coast, Hermosa Beach has flourished and grown into one of the most desirable places to live in Southern California. White sandy beaches stretch along the California coast making it clear as to why the early pioneers named it Hermosa, meaning "beautiful".
Delightful shops and excellent restaurants attract tourists year-round. With a mild climate and temperatures ranging in the mid 60's during the winter months to the 70's during the remainder to the year, Hermosa Beach has attracted many who enjoy clean beaches, fresh air, and a safe community, and an excellent school system. Hermosa Beach is located approximately four miles south of LAX, 19 miles southwest of downtown Los Angeles, and 10 miles south of Century City and the Westside making it an easy commute for those working outside of the area.
