Torrance is located halfway between Los Angeles and Orange County and bound by the Pacific Ocean on the west. It's neighboring cities include Gardena, Redondo Beach, Hermosa Beach, Palos Verdes Estates, Rolling Hills and Carson. It is 21 square miles in size and has 1.5 miles of lifeguard patrolled beach area. Torrance is the sixth largest city in Los Angeles County and is the 33rd largest city in California. Incorporated in 1921, Torrance enjoys a pleasant year-round climate with warm temperatures, sea breezes, low humidity and an average rainfall of 12.55 inches per year.
Torrance Beach is a beautiful, soft sand beach framed by the hills of Palos Verdes south of Redondo Beach. The one and a half miles of smooth sand is lifeguard patrolled and offers swings for kids, volleyball nets, bath house facilities and public parking for a small fee.
